What Precautions are we taking in Band?
Our CHCCS Band Directors have been communicating and organizing regularly to make sure the return to the bandroom is a safe one. This past Fall the band directors, led by Dr. Whiteman and Mr. Sample, coordinated an effort to determine the PPE needs for each of our band programs. Dr. Whiteman was able to secure federal funds to purchase specialized musician masks and instrument bell covers for all of our band students. The PPE was recently delivered to each school and is waiting to be deployed once we return to the classroom.
We will maintain social-distancing guidelines:
Personal Protective Equipment [provided by the District]:
The safety and well-being of your child is our number one priority. The above precautions are in alignment with guidelines set forth by the CDC, NFHS, NAfME and CHCCS. Our building administration is looking into providing additional materials to facilitate learning outdoors [carts, canopies, storage, etc]. With these precautions in place, the bandroom should be a safe environment for students to continue their music studies.
We will maintain social-distancing guidelines:
- More than likely we will hold class outdoors [weather permitting]
- If allowed indoors, we will continue to maintain a distance of 6ft or more
- Classes will be in two cohorts reducing the number of students present each day
Personal Protective Equipment [provided by the District]:
- Specialized Individual Musician Masks
- Instrument Bell Covers
- Mouthpiece Disinfectant Spray
- Additional large school-owned instruments were purchased to avoid sharing
- Smartmusic: Music will be accessed through student electronic devices [no paper]
